About Vernon Carey
Giving back and getting involved in the local community where he grew up is something that has always been very important to Vernon Carey. That is why in 2010, he started the Vernon Carey Foundation. Vernon is a former Miami Dolphins Offensive Lineman, who was drafted by the Dolphins 19th overall in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft after playing at the University of Miami. Vernon played for the Miami Dolphins for eight seasons from 2004- 2011. In addition, to being named first team All- Pro by Peter King of Sports Illustrated. Vernon was the Dolphins 2008 NFL Man of the Year and 2007 Dolphins Community Service Award Winner. During that time he created the Vernon Carey Mentoring Program, which highlighted taking children on unique exciting trips and new experiences in education.
Vernon is married to LaTavia and has four children, son Vernon, Jr., twins, son Jaylen and daughter, Taelynn and daughter, Dynver. He holds a B.A. in liberal arts from the University of Miami. Vernon attended Miami Northwestern High School.
Currently Vernon is working on growing the Vernon Carey Foundation by adding new programs, expanding the tutoring and mentoring program and events including Holiday Shopping Sprees and Back to School Events.
