Vernon Carey Foundation Back to School Event
Thirty local children from Curley's House were treated to a $170 sneaker shopping spree at Dick's Sporting Goods from the Vernon Carey Foundation. Additional Sponsors included Royal Pig Pub, Tony Galvin, Dick's Sporting Goods and lunch provided by Hooters. Kids shopped with the Carey family for several pairs of sneakers that they each received.
Carey Family Foundation Scholarship
The schools selected have extra special ties to the Vernon Carey Foundation board members. Miami Northwestern is the alma mater of Vernon Carey. The Miami Carol City Scholarship is in memory of Vincent Banks, Father of LaTavia Carey and father-in-law to Vernon Carey. Miami Central is the alma mater of Felix Williams, mentor to Vernon Carey and treasurer to the Vernon Carey Foundation. Congratulations to the winners.
Vernon Carey Foundation Father & Son Billiards Tournament Presented by DVS Collector Car Sales
Held annually for fathers and sons of all ages at the Billiard Club presented by DVS Collector Car Sales. Congratulations to 2018 winners Ted Lucas and son.
Vernon Carey Foundation Holiday Mall Shopping Spree
Thirty-one children from local non profits and schools in Broward and Miami-Dade County are treated to a Holiday Mall Shopping Spree Courtesy of the Vernon Carey Foundation each December at Westfield Broward. The children are treated to a $325 spree courtesy of the Vernon Carey Foundation and are paired with current and former Miami Dolphins players, Florida Panthers, Miami Heat Dancers, Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, Hooters Calendar Gils, Ted Lucas founder of Slip-N-Slide Records and local community leaders. Additional Sponsors have included Westfield Broward and Tony Galvin.
ONE STEP "Closer to a Brighter Future"
VCF has partnered with Broward and Miami Dade School Systems for several years. The Students have career focused events and program with Vernon and other business leaders at least once a month The program includes educational outings and events including visits to The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale, Perry Ellis International, Monster Miai Golf and Media Outlets. This year's students are from Miami Northwestern High School. Past students have been from Miami Carol City and Apollo Middle School.
Royal Pig Pub/ Vernon Carey Foundation Teddy Bear and Book Drive
Held each December at Royal Pig Pub. The books and bears collected and donated by Royal Pig Pub are distributed to local daycares in the Sistrunk Community with Vernon, Royal Pig Pub and Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Robert McKinizie.

Vernon Carey Foundation Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway
Each year the Foundation has partnered with local non profits and schools to distributes Thanksgiving Meals to feed families in need. Past recipients have been the Curley's House, Feeding South Florida, Miami Northwestern Senior High City of Pembroke Pines, Miami Beach Police Athletic League, Belafonte Tacolcy and Children's Diagnostic Treatment Center.
