Retired Miami Dolphins Offensive Linemen Vernon Carey hosted the 3rd Annual Vernon Carey Foundation Father and Son Billiards Tournament Presented by DVS Collector Car Sales on Saturday, March 17th at the Billiard Club in Davie. Grandfathers, Fathers and Sons of all ages and all skills participated. Congratulations to Ted Lucas and his son Ted Jr who won 1st Place and a prize of two tickets to the Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers.
Vernon participated with his two sons Vernon Jr. and Jaylen. Other celebrities participating included retired Offensive Lineman Jake Long and his father “We want to create memorable moments for father’s and sons in our community, “ said Founder Vernon Carey. The event also featured food, raffles and DJ.
The Vernon Carey Foundation creates programs and provides support to encourage the improvement of our youth. These programs are designed to enhance educational and recreational development and economic opportunities within the community. Money raised from the Tournament will fund the Foundation’s Programs including the Vernon Carey Foundation’s “One Step to A Brighter Future” Mentoring and Scholarship program with Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Middle Schools, Back to School Sneaker Shopping Spree Event, Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway, Holiday Mall Shopping Spree and additional charitable contributions to Youth Athletics.
